NBCi presents Kim Raver September 24, 1999 Actress Kim Raver chats with her fans about her role as Kim Zambrano on NBC's "Third Watch." NBCLive: Kim Raver, who plays Kim Zambrano, a dedicated paramedic and mother on NBC's "Third Watch" (Sundays, 8-9:00 p.m. ET), has just wrapped up talking with Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show" and now she's ready to take your questions about her exciting new role on the John Wells-created action-drama series. Kim Raver was born and raised in New York City, and began her television career at age six when she began a three-year stint in the cast of "Sesame Street". Soon after, she joined off-Broadway's first all-children's theater. A fine arts graduate of Boston University, Raver continues to study theater in New York with teacher and mentor Wynn Handman. She is fluent in French and German, which she learned as a child from her German-born mother. Raver's big break came with her Broadway debut in the play "Holiday" in which she co-starred with Laura Linney and Tony Goldwyn. Her other credits include a lead role in NBC's "Trinity," as well as starring roles in "The Practice", "Spin City", and NBC's "Law & Order". She also appeared in the feature film "City Hall" with Al Pacino. This summer, Raver co-starred with David Schwimmer (NBC's "Friends") and John Spencer (NBC's "The West Wing") in the Williamstown production of "The Glimmer Brothers", written by Warren Leight, this year's Tony Award winner for "Sideman". Welcome Kim! Kim Raver: Thank you for having me. ER ThirdWatch Fan: Hi Kim. I watched Third Watch last night and I completely fell in love with it. Congratulations to the cast and crew. My question is-How confident are you about "Third Watch" 's success? Do you think it will work? I hope so! Kim Raver: I'm very excited and thrilled that you liked the show. We just heard, because of the success of last night, that the back episode was just picked up to give us a full year. So we're hoping, keeping our fingers crossed so that the success of ER will complement our success. I guess what I'm trying to say is they are sort of paving the road for us. And hopefully with viewers like you, we'll stay on the air. ER ThirdWatch Fan: Do you like your character? If so, what do you think of her? Kim Raver: I love my character because she allows me to have different qualities and not have to be perfect. She's a very hard worker and the fault may be that she reacts to things before she thinks and then has to deal with the consequences. I like that the show deals with how I'm going to make it through those consequences. I love that I have a child, a young boy. It's one area that she's very very good at; also she really is working hard in a man's world to be very competent. I have lot of fun.
