Lifetime TV presents Jaclyn Smith February 10, 2000 Actress Jaclyn Smith chats about her roles in the Lifetime Original Movie "Navigating the Heart" and “Charlie’s Angels.” Lifetime: Welcome to Lifetime Online's live chat with Jaclyn Smith. Jaclyn will be answering questions about her life, influences and acting career. We hope you enjoy the chat and don't miss Jaclyn in the Lifetime Original Movie "Navigating the Heart" premiering February 14. Jaclyn Smith: Good evening and I'm happy to be talking to everyone. I'm looking forward to talking with everyone. I'm interesting in hearing what you're going to be asking me. Manolis Varnas: Jaclyn what is the main subject of your new movie and what kind of role do you play? Jaclyn Smith: The subject is romantic comedy, love. It's a love story. And my character is a New York journalist, career woman. Miss-construed: Hi Jaclyn! How did you enjoy filming this project, and do you have anything else coming out in the near future? Jaclyn Smith: I loved filming it. It was very positive. I'm considering several different movies right now, haven't made a decision. Maybe even a series. I'm coming out with a new line of hosiery for Kmart, along with new things in my studio line. So it's been a very busy time. Tarajblackwell: I am from Houston, Texas and I know that you too are from Texas; what method did you use to lose your Texas accent? Jaclyn Smith: Well, I'm glad you think I've lost it, but I still have it. When I'm home visiting it comes back even stronger, and when I'm tired it comes out. But I kind of like it. When I have to do roles where I have to lose it, I work with a dialect coach by the name of Robert Easton. EZGuest93: Jaclyn I love you so much and I was wandering how being a star has affected your life? Jaclyn Smith: Well, I think my career has made it all the more interesting; not only for me, but also for my family. It's opened up travel. I think my line of clothes at Kmart was offered to me because of my career and because of "Charlie's Angels," and I think that it's made me a more interesting fulfilled person. I find working stimulating. Hotel-California: Have you done this chat thing before? And what do you think of it as a way to be in touch with fans and audience? Jaclyn Smith: Well, I did it once before at the Professional Emmy's for just a short time. I think it's a great way to be in touch. It's something my kids understand more than I do. And I think it is the future. I think that many people will communicate this way. Many of them do now. So I'd like to do more it. Ohio34: Jaclyn, what brings you the most joy in your life and if you were not a famous person what do you think you would be doing? Jaclyn Smith: My children, my husband, my family -- period -- bring me the most joy. You know my mother, my brother, the whole works. If I weren't doing this, I would either teach ballet, or be into architectural design. Darps: I'm a working mother about the same age as you, home and family comes first, but I do care about my self. What advice do you have in this age group for aging gracefully? Jaclyn Smith: I believe in being a present devoted mother. But I believe everybody needs to have a little time for his or herself. So whatever your interests might be, don't forget to be good to yourself and do that every now and then. I think running a house and bringing up children is the most fulfilling, most challenging part of life, if you do it right. So I think there must be times when you indulge yourself in something. Ohio34: I caught your interview with lifetime a while back and I was wondering if you would ever consider writing a interior decorating book? Jaclyn Smith: Oh, well, I would love to. You know, even if I did a collection of photographs of rooms and houses I like, and why I like them. That would be an interesting approach. Antiques are a passion--and architecture. I find such a creative outlook in it. Restructuring rooms, you know whether it be knocking out ceilings, or finding interesting doors and windows. Just designing beautiful rooms with surprises. I would like to perhaps put those thoughts in a book.
