Genevieve Jacobs: It's so great to be here. Can't wait to chat with you all.

Kokomo: My teenage daughter (13 years old) is just getting into make-up and experimenting with brands and colors. Do you have any advice so that she can be properly informed and can make the best choices? She has long dark brown hair and light olive skin.

Genevieve Jacobs: First, I would make sure that she doesn't have any skin problems. I would use mascara, one that thickens, and volumizes, but be sure it doesn't cause clumping. Number 2 is clear lip-gloss--a prettier pucker, without too much clumping. For her cheeks, I would go with a clear, or gel blush (stay away from cream!) Opt for something that is a little bronzey, especially now that it is summer!

Peachyprincess22: Is it true that if you put lemon in your hair it will turn blonde? If its true how would you do it?

Genevieve Jacobs: It is true! The effects are very subtle; so don't expect to go from brunette to blonde bombshell with a single lemon. The trick is to use a FRESH lemon, NOT lemon juice, to squeeze the juice into a squirt bottle (you may need more than one lemon to do this). Dilute it with a tiny bit of water, spray it on wet hair, comb it with a wide-tooth comb, and spend the afternoon outdoors. It's the heat, combined with the sunlight that causes the lemon to lift color out of your hair, therefore making it lighter. It will give you streaks, but not a dramatic change. And I wouldn't recommend it for someone with medium brown hair, as it tends to turn the hair orange.

Angelina: I have really frizzy hair. How can I get it to be not so puffy?

Genevieve Jacobs: You want to look for products that contain an ingredient called silicone. This ingredient coats the hair and weighs it down. Applied to wet hair, it will help to prevent the hair shafts from swelling and getting puffy as it dries. You can also use silicone-based products on dry hair if humidity has caused your hair to swell as well.

Sophie: I've got pale skin and very light blonde hair any ideas on some makeup that would suit me?

Genevieve Jacobs: The secret to adding color to fair, fair skin is to go with shades that are sheer (that means see-through). I would recommend warming up your color a little to use a tinted moisturizer or a very light foundation--and that means light as in consistency, not color--then to use a bronzy color on your cheekbones, your nose, and your forehead. Again sheer is the way to go. Try Origins Stay Sunny Liquid Bronzer. It gives you color without being obvious that it's makeup.

Cc498: My finger nails are all splitting and looking pretty dreadful - any tips?
