Boxtop presents Actress Garcelle Beauvais May 08, 1998 Actress Garcelle Beauvais discusses her role on the Jamie Foxx Show. She chats about juggline her modeling and acting careers while caring for her 7-yr old son. Speaker: Talk City Presents in association with BoxTop Live (tm) Welcomes You to Tonight's Feature Presentation. Tonight we welcome Garcelle Beauvais. Garcelle, welcome to Talk City! Mysterygirl: Garcelle, welcome to Talk City! How has the transition from Modeling to a Television show been, what have been the highlights? GarcelleB: I've been very lucky, but it's a difficult transition, because people think that if you're a model you can't act! I've been very lucky getting two series that prove that I CAN act, first “Models Inc.” and then the Jamie Foxx show. Lasting: What is it like on the set? I mean, do you have to practice NOT to laugh? Is it hard? GarcelleB: (laughing) Well, that's one of the perks of being on the Jamie Foxx show! We have such a good time that sometimes the line between work and having fun is very thin! It's like you're getting paid for laughing! It's hard to keep a straight face with Jamie - you never know what he's going to do! Dreamn: Could you tell what the funniest moment was on the set? Do you have any real funny stories you can tell? GarcelleB: One of the funniest stories is that Jamie can fall asleep anywhere! We were doing a scene in his bedroom, and they called for a 5 minute break, and immediately he was fast asleep! We all just stood there and watched him until he woke up! Of course he is busy even when we're not shooting, traveling and with his stand-up career. Model2: Do you have a favorite designer? GarcelleB: That's a hard one! I would have to say Tom Ford, for Gucci. And The Gap! I do like their clothes, too! Chancey: What is your favorite thing to do - act, model, dance? GarcelleB: I would have to say acting. It's a lot of fun for me, and I can do it much longer than I can model, so I picked the right one! I'd like to act in feature films - I have a movie coming up with Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence. I'd like to do other projects, and direct one day. I admire the directing work of Nora Ephron, Spielberg (tell him to call me!). I just saw a movie directed by Forest Whittaker, and he was wonderful. So I'd have to say him, too. Stardust: Garcelle, what kinds of beauty tips can you give us? GarcelleB: The best tip I've ever received for keeping the skin soft is Vaseline - on your feet, heels and hands, it works for everything to keep your skin soft. Amplify: I’ve heard you keep in shape with a pulley and band machine, can you tell me how it works, what you do and how long you spend working out? GarcelleB: It's called a Pilate machine. You work against your own body weight, with pulleys and springs. And I work on it for an hour at least three times a week. It's very popular with dancers.
