Body For Life presents Lezlee Jones October 05, 2000 Body-for-LIFE Champion Lezlee Jones answers questions about how she used the Body-for-Life program to learn a healthy diet and exercise program to lose weight and maintain good nutrition. Body For LIFE: Welcome to Body-for-LIFE.com's Chats with Champions. Tonight's guest is 1999 Body-for-LIFE Champion, Lezlee Jones, of Bountiful, Utah. This Body-for-LIFE Champion lost 30 lbs of body fat, improved her health, and regained the energy she once enjoyed in her youth. Lezlee, thank you for joining and spending time with us tonight. Lezlee: Hello. Thank you for having me. I'm excited, butterflies and all. Panama: Lezlee, what ONE food was the 'killer' give-up for you? Lezlee: Chocolate brownies, I would have to say. I have them on occasion, but I don't like them as much as I used to, believe it or not. Accesslife: How did you prepare during the final week of the contest for the after pictures? Did you follow some of the suggestions mentioned in a recent issue of Muscle Media magazine? Lezlee: Basically, what I did was cut back on my carbs. I drank more of the Precision Protein and less of the Myoplex, and I watched my sodium intake. I used dandelion, and then the evening before, I carb loaded. I got this information out of an old issue of Muscle Media magazine. I've heard sometimes it works and sometimes it backfires, but it seemed to work for me. Now they have NWB (Natural Water Balance), so that takes the guesswork out of it for you. Cherokee Maiden: How important are the two glasses with water for each meal? Lezlee: I think your water is really important, but that was the single most difficult thing for me to do, because I was not a water drinker. But I think it's really important, and I started to drink mine at room temperature. I seemed to be able to get more down if it wasn't cold. It was easier for me drink. With all the exercise, I think it's important that you drink enough so you don't dehydrate. I think it also helps you feel full. Cherokee Maiden: Can you skip a meal? Or will that throw off the diet? Lezlee: I wouldn't recommend skipping meals. I really believe that eating often got me the results. I would say that skipping meals would be counterproductive. It's really going to help your metabolism pick up, and it keeps your energy up. I think frequent meals are really important, and I wouldn't skip meals. It's hard for people to believe that eating more often is going to help you lose weight, but it does. What it did for me is it kept me from getting overly hungry. I knew another meal was right around the corner, and I didn't have to eat too much. Dianna: I am 42 and in my 9th week. I seem to be at a plateau, and the fat around my arms and stomach are not dropping. Do you have any suggestions? I started at 29 percent bodyfat, and two weeks ago was at 21. Thanks, Dianna
