Bloomingdale’s: T'is the season of cocktail parties and open houses, gatherings and get-togethers. What are you going to wear to all these festivities? Just ask Catherine Noon and learn how to celebrate in style this holiday. Catherine, welcome to our event!

Catherine Noon: Hello, welcome to the event!

Corazon: I'm spending the first night of Chanukah at my new boyfriend's house. His family is very traditional. What should I wear?

Catherine Noon: Fortunately for us, this season the little back dress has become a very prominent fashion item. There are a ton of little black dresses at Bloomingdale's in a range of prices that I am sure will be perfect for a holiday party.

Makemeover: I'm going to a New Year's party at a prestigious hotel in New York. I love my dress but I'm worried it's inappropriate. How short is too short?

Catherine Noon: While the mini is making a comeback, holiday parties are probably not the best place to go too short. Chances are, if you feel uncomfortable in the dress, it is too short. However, if the dress looks fabulous on you, and you think it looks fabulous on you, then go for it!

Fashionable: Any suggestions on dressing up a pair of silk pants so they're formal enough to wear to a holiday party?

Catherine Noon: My best suggestion for dressing up a pair of silk pants would be to try on a multitude of beaded or embroidered tops and see which works best with the pants. Depending on the style of pants, we have a selection of bare halter-tops, or more conservative beaded t-shirts in velvet. With silk pants, you really need to keep the fabric of the top more formal, such as silk also, or velvet, or organza. Jewelry and beautiful accessories are also another way to dress up a pair of silk pants.

GG: I have just bought a lovely sleeveless velvet dress, and a shimmery gold shirt. What kind of evening bag do you think I should carry?

Catherine Noon: Accessories are incredibly exciting this year. And what makes them so exciting is that color, texture, and novelty treatments are all unique and individual. So it sounds to me from this outfit that you could actually pick a bag that is more ornamented. We have an incredible selection on the main floor that I'm sure would work with your outfit.

PrimaDONA: How can I keep warm on New Year's without hiding my dress under a bulky coat?

Catherine Noon: There are a couple of ways to keep warm without hiding your fabulous dress. The easiest solution is to pick up one of the hottest trends in accessories, the pashmina. They are available in a huge range of colors, and can keep you toasty warm even on a cold night. Some other options are any of the beautiful fur and fake fur accessories, particularly stoles. They can be wrapped around one's shoulders.

Shoefetish: My very favorite strappy open-toed sandals go perfectly with my New Year' s dress. Can I get away with wearing them in winter?

Catherine Noon: Absolutely! Strappy shoes are now appropriate year round for dressy occasions. And they are strongly endorsed by Bloomingdale's.
